Last week in Qatar and I’ve crossed of 9 out of 10 things on my “Qatar to do list”. As much as I can’t believe it’s time to go, my bags and luggage sure know the weight of being here for two and a half months :) One of the last things I did in my time here was go camel-back riding. Given the circumstances, I had to go on this adventure mid-day in Ramadan, about an hour away into the deserts of Qatar, to the outer tips of where land meets water. On our way, I can’t tell you the excitement the three camels I saw as the driver drove by brought to me! The closer I got to the my furry ride, I almost called it quits from a distance :o( Yes, of course in the end I manned up and sat holding onto dear life, only for the camel to spring up and give me a mini heart-attack. From about 12’ high, the sight of the sand dunes far ahead, the rocky sand all around, and the sea to my far left was truly indescribable in an ever beautiful way. Yes, that 20QR ride was one of the best little adventures I have ever had.
Trying to reminisce on all of my time here and I’m drawing a blank. I don’t know how to put all of it into words. The conversations, the experiences, the commentaries, the eye openers, the beauty, the struggle, my hesitation, and above all, my faith in people, myself, and of course the One always looking over me from up above. And as much as I know I will not ever be ready to leave this place, my slightly home-sick heart is ready to travel some more. What is for sure is that a part of me will always remain here and I just might come back to pick it up one day if God wills :)
